A wedding Photographers Guide
Today our blog and small guide features Katie & James' Wedding,
Venue: Hockwold Hall, Norfolk
A quick guide to the venue!
One of our favourite venues. We've watched the journey of this venue since it started back in 2016. We've been supporting the venue since it started and exhibit at its annual wedding fayre.
Richard and Marie are the current owners of Hockwold Hall. Hockwold Hall is a former royal residence - the godson of Queen Victoria once owned it.
The venue mixes the traditional hall with the marquee and has many outdoor locations, gardens, orchards etc..., which make for fantastic images.
Bridal Prep.
With most of our couples we begin the day with Bridal prep. Our aim is to tell the story of the day, in pictures, from the preparations to the first dance as a married couple. Bridal prep is about the bride (and her bridesmaids) relaxing, reflecting and sometimes some bubbly is consumed; always good fun!

Ceremony
The ceremony and reception were all held at Hockwold.
The outdoor ceremony, in the especially set out garden, in the summer is always a favourite.
After the ceremony
Afterwards drinks and canopies were served. It's a great time for us to get some candid photos of guests relaxing with each other. Then we got everyone out for our signature drone shot (above)! What a great memory our drone shot provides. Everyone who is at the wedding is on this shot.
After some formal shots then it was time for some "couple" shots. We met Katie and James in Thetford Forest earlier in the year for their pre-wedding shoot. Such a fun couple we knew they would be up for some fun!
The Wedding Breakfast and Speeches!
The father of the bride relating the story of the "wrong size" bridesmaids dresses being delivered (they hadn't told the Bride, until now).
A very competitive couple.
There are so many spots around Hockwold hall!
Between the wedding breakfast finishing and the evening reception finishing it was time for a good natured game of volleyball between the groom/groomsmen and the bride/bridesmaids.
The Evening
After that the cake was cut, first dance (which the couple had choreographed) and then the party really got started!
We hope our images have helped inspire you. If you are looking for photographers who always provide 2 shooters on the day, who will get to know you and what you want for your day, and to accompany you on your wedding journey why not get in touch - info@awakenimages.co.uk.
If you're contacting the venue, don't forget to tell them where you saw it.
